Who We Serve

The CTO Group serves a number of key individuals and organizations within their client companies. The CTO Group serves as an advisor and adjunct to the CIO and the CTO for an organization. The CTO Group is not intended to supplant the participation, responsibility or judgment of these individuals. From our experience, the most effective role for the CTO Group is to work with a combination of the CIO, CTO and key functional executives that have the strategic responsibility for a company’s business and information technology strategies. Ideally there should be an IT/business governance board that embodies this as an ongoing responsibility. The CTO Group adds value at the highest level in this manner. We additionally serve as an ‘armchair’ advisor to the Chief Executive and the Board of Directors as appropriate.

However, this is not intended to be the only level of participation. To successfully establish strategies, architectures, and standards; participants from a variety of organizations and levels within a company must be involved. We expect to work with a variety of individuals at different levels within the client organization over time. This is even more true as the implementation of the decisions commences. It is not feasible to ‘stand back’ and expect the transitions and transformations to occur successfully without participation. Robert Townsend said, “a poor plan that people commit to and is fully implemented will outperform a perfect plan that no one believes in or uses.”
